2021 Spring Exhibition on Sunday, May 2
Fairfax Ice Arena will be holding its 2021 Spring Exhibition on Sunday, May 2, for its skaters.
Registration to exhibit is now closed.
Registered exhibitors can still register for exhibition practice sessions ($10 each). Space is limited.
The exhibition schedule will be available online and
may be posted, at the latest, two days before the event.
To adhere to safety measures, each registered exhibitor are allowed two guests during their scheduled performance. No additional spectators are allowed. Please arrive ready to skate and no earlier than 15 minutes before you skate, and leave no later than 15 minutes after you skate. Wear a face mask properly covering your nose and mouth while in the facility on and off the ice.
Fairfax Ice Arena is proud to be the home ice rink of the Skating Club of Northern Virginia (SCNV). Founded in 1975, the SCNV is a member club of U.S. Figure Skating, the governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States.
Freestyle sessions are held Mondays–Fridays, and Sundays for figure skaters in level Beta and higher. View the schedule and register for freestyle sessions.

- Arrive ready to skate
- Arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before you skate
- Leave no later than 15 minutes after you skate
- Wear a face covering at all times unless skating on the ice during specified sessions
- STAY HOME if you feel sick in any way
We offer five different level types for the freestyle sessions. Levels are defined as what level you will be competing at in the upcoming season. Instructor approval is required.
B.Low: Beta–Freestyle 6
Mix: Freestyle 2 and up
Med: No test (lutz and up)
Med/High: Consistent axel and up
High: Qualifying Juvenile and up
Special: Specialty sessions including Jumps, Stroking and Footwork
No moves or dance allowed on Med/High and High sessions.
The following are the credit packages and session credit rates for the freestyle sessions.
Specialty sessions are offered during our summer season for jumps, stroking and footwork. These sessions will be taught by staff coaches who have expertise in these areas. Each session will offer a unique opportunity for skaters of all levels to focus on improving their technical skills.
Session Credit Rates
60 minute session = 6 credits
50 minute session = 6 credits
40 minute session = 5 credits
30 minute session = 4 credits
20 minute session = 3 credits
Specialty session with coaching = 6 credits
Stroking session with coaching = 5 credits

We have provided first-rate coaching and figure skating programs to the Northern Virginia, Washington, DC area for nearly 50 years. We offer freestyle sessions, high performance specialty sessions focusing on stroking, jumps and spins, off-ice conditioning, and additional training tools to aid figure skaters in their development.
Payment must be made online in advance before the skater goes on the ice. Fairfax Ice Arena monitors the sessions to ensure that the skaters on the session are registered and are following etiquette. Skaters who go on the ice during a session and are not registered will be charged an additional service fee of 3 credits for the violation. Fairfax Ice Arena reserves the right to ask skaters who are on the ice and are not registered for the session to leave and or to charge them the additional 3 credit service fee for the violation.
Skaters must cancel at least 15 minutes before the session start time or lose their credits.
Payment of the session does not include the price of a private lesson. All payments for private lessons must go through our payment system.

Are you a figure skater looking to train with coaches at Fairfax Ice Arena? Contact Skating Director Eric Tsai to request your first private lesson with one of our coaches. In your request, please indicate the coach or coaches you are interested in; a contact name and phone number; the skater's name, age, skating level, experiences and goals; and indicate as many freestyle session days and times that you are available and qualified to skate in. We will follow up with you in a week and a half or two weeks maximum during the busy winter season.
