Fairfax Ice Arena was founded by Eileen Weisiger.  She was a successful business woman, serial entrepreneur, fashion designer, artist, model, and mother.

Eileen Weisiger and her family are instrumental to bringing year-round recreational ice skating, and programs for competitive figure skating and ice hockey in the region.

Her son, the late Edwin Berry Weisiger, spearheaded the Fairfax Hockey League, the first multi-level adult hockey league in Virginia 40 years ago.

Fairfax, Virginia, April 19, 2024 — It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you that Edwin Berry Weisiger, one of the owners of Fairfax Ice Arena, our colleague and dear friend, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2024.

Known to many as Berry, he spearheaded the Fairfax Hockey League, the first multi-level adult hockey league in Virginia 40 years ago. He earned his bachelor’s degree from George Washington University.

Berry is survived by his wife Elizabeth and their children Eileen and Jayden; his children Sejong and David from his former marriage to JinSook; his brothers Harry Weisiger and Henry Weisiger, and his sister Carol Dixon. Berry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
