Fairfax, Virginia, April 19, 2024 — It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you that Edwin Berry Weisiger, one of the owners of Fairfax Ice Arena, our colleague and dear friend, passed away unexpectedly on April 6, 2024, in Purcellville, Virginia.
Known to many as Berry, he spearheaded the Fairfax Hockey League, the first multi-level adult hockey league in Virginia 40 years ago. He earned his bachelor’s degree from George Washington University.
Berry is survived by his wife Elizabeth and their children Eileen and Jayden; his children Sejong and David from his former marriage to JinSook; his brothers Harry Weisiger and Henry Weisiger, and his sister Carol Dixon. Berry’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, in Fairfax, Virginia, on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 5 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Fairfax Memorial Park, 4401 Burke Station Road, in Fairfax, Virginia on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 12 p.m.. There will be a funeral procession leaving from Fairfax Memorial on Saturday April 27 2024, at 11:30 a.m.
Please be advised that the funeral procession will stop at Fairfax Ice Arena on Saturday, April 27, 2024, after 11:30 a.m. The procession will enter the parking lot at the traffic light from Pickett Rd., go around the parking lot, and stop at the front entrance before leaving at the traffic light onto Pickett Rd.
On Saturday, April 27, between 6 a.m. – 1 p.m., parking will be available only behind the building. Please follow any signs, directions from parking attendants, and cones that are setup.
